Reading Buddies (Year 2 and Year 5 children)
Every Thursday, thirty Year 5 children from William Austin Junior School visit a Year 2 class to take part in paired reading with them.
Year 5 children support the Year 2 children by sharing different strategies for reading and help them to develop their comprehension skills.
Joint Trips with William Austin Infants School
At the end of the summer term Family Workers from both William Austin Infant and William Austin Junior School organise a joint trip to the sea-side. This is a great opportunity for a fun day out with all the family. We normally leave around 8:00am in the morning and return by coach at approximately 8:00pm in the evening with very tired children.
Pantomime - Oh no you don’t, Oh yes we do
Pantomime season is a fun time for all. Family Workers from both William Austin Infant and William Austin Junior School organise a joint trip to the local Library Theatre to enjoy an annual performance by the Griffin Players.
Outside agencies from health, wellbeing, adult education, beauty and fashion are annually invited to have a stall to promote and educate our families and the wider community.
End of Year Celebration
At the Family Centre we held a festive open afternoon for our families. This was a lovely event in which families got to meet School Governors and enjoy tea and cake which was kindly donated by the Kitchen Manager and her team.
