Equality
Our Commitment
St William Austin Junior School, we are committed to meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). We aim to provide an inclusive, welcoming environment where every pupil, parent, staff member and visitor is valued, respected and able to participate fully in school life.
We recognise our responsibility to ensure fairness, remove barriers to learning, and promote positive relationships across our community.
Under the Equality Act 2010, we have a duty to:
a) eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under this Act;
(b) advance equality of opportunity between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it;
(c) foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.
Protected characteristics include: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
