We aim to make this an enjoyable part of school life through engaging with a variety of methods to support fluency. In Y3 and Y4, pupils use our Maths Stars program to develop the fast recall of number bonds and multiplication facts.
In Y5 and Y6 pupils use our KIRFs (Key Instant Recall of Facts) to improve their recall of tables and number facts.
Pupils have regular timetabled sessions to practise and learn their multiplication tables.
We use the Times Tables Rock-Stars website to support the children in practising and learning their multiplication tables, both at home and in school. Classes are able to ‘battle’ against each other and there is a league table in the hall showing games played, won, drawn and any bonus points.
In June, Y4 pupils take their Multiplication Tables Check. This is a National Curriculum Assessment test to determine if a child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12 which is completed on iPads and marked externally.
